Cre8txt keyboard review

The cre8txt is a USB keyboard that mimics a mobile phone number pad. As such, you type alphanumeric characters in the same way you would on your phone; pressing "3" twice, for example, will give you "e". Why? The makers claim that some children are quicker at texting than typing, so the cre8txt keyboard is ideal for them. There's even software included that adds a predictive text capability and converts "txt spk" slang into proper English. Convinced? No, neither are we. Try as we might, even the finest of our thumb-wielders found typing painfully slow, and the novelty soon wore off. The non-configurable press-and-hold shortcut buttons also proved less than compelling. Unless you have a text-obsessed child who refuses to go near a QWERTY keyboard, this expensive white elephant is best avoided.
