Emprex Internet Radio Receiver in Network media streamers

Verdict

Review Date: 13 Feb 2009

Price when reviewed: £55 (£63 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
2 stars out of 6

The £55 exc VAT price of this internet radio looks fantastic when compared with the £128 for the excellent Pure Evoke Flow (web ID: 221715). The diminutive unit has Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, and setup is easy - as is navigating the small, two-tone LCD panel with the included remote control. You can also connect the Emprex to an external music source with a USB cable. However, with this radio at least, it's a case of you get what you pay for: sound quality is poor, with the treble muddy and indistinct while the small, tinny speakers produce next to no bass. It may be easy to use, cheap, and easy on the eye, but the dismal sound quality makes the Emprex Internet Radio Receiver something of a false economy.
