MSI P35 Platinum review

Verdict

Intel introduces its latest chipset, and we look at three of the first motherboards to use it.

It's still a DDR2 board, but it keeps pace with the Asus in most other regards, only lacking the integrated Wi-Fi and an Ethernet or SATA port here and there. It also has the edge thanks to a more affordable price of £94, so unless you're determined to jump on the DDR3 train we recommend sticking with a board like the MSI for now.

Conclusion

The P35 chipset is only an incremental advance, so if you already have a P965 board we see no reason to get your wallet out yet. That said, as DDR3 becomes available we should see improved performance, and the forthcoming CPU models will also play a part. If you're looking to build a PC from scratch, the P35 is a sensible and future-proof option.
