For those picking a professional recording application for the first time, Sonar does seem to have it all. It's hard to find a feature in its rivals that Sonar can't match, and its key strengths - mix architecture and plug-in bundle - are the ones that directly affect the quality of the end results. With so many exciting toys to play with, it's perfect for producers who turn to their toolbox for musical inspiration. However, it takes a technically minded musician to keep on top of the complex and, at times, slightly clumsy interface.
