And the machine is reassuringly well specified elsewhere. A more-than-ample 4GB of RAM sits alongside a 2.5GHz Core 2 Duo and two 250GB hard disks. In our 2D tests it excelled, reaching an admirable 1.36, zipping past our A-listed enthusiast laptop, the Dell XPS M1730, which reached only 1.06. This means that office applications load and run wonderfully quickly, and Vista runs perfectly smoothly.

As a stylish, semi-portable alternative to a Desktop PC, the HDX9320EA has few peers. Its good looks are matched by fine performance in both standard applications and games, and all for an impressively reasonable price.

Those looking for a desktop replacement that can browse the web, edit office documents and play back TV, media and games in 20in luxury and in a package which will fold away discreetly, will find the HP HDX9320EA to be the perfect choice.
