Dell Inspiron 3700 C466GT

Verdict

The Inspiron 3700's has a comfortable keyboard, a large screen and DVD-decoding abilities. However, it's let down by slightly disappointing battery life.

Review Date: 1 Nov 1999

Price when reviewed: (£1,938 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
5 stars out of 6

When it comes to 2D, a month ago the Inspiron 3700 would have been described as a strong performer thanks to the 466MHz Celeron and the beneficial effects of a good hard disk, 128Mb of PC100 memory and the ATi graphics chipset. However, this model is 20 per cent slower than the Evesham Voyager 6000 (reviewed p153), which features the new Mobile Pentium III processor. Despite this, if a clear screen, good keyboard, big hard disk and DVD-decoding abilities are more important to you than brute performance, this is an excellent notebook to choose.
