Hi-Grade UltiNote AS8300

Verdict

The UltiNote is rather good, with a low carrying weight, excellent battery life, decent ergonomics and good performance.

Review Date: 1 Sep 1999

Price when reviewed: (£1,644 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
5 stars out of 6

The machine rounded off a generally good showing with a decent running time on DC power. The lithium ion battery pack kept the UltiNote going for three hours and 20 minutes, which is a lot better than much of the competition, despite the fact that figures like this are obviously possible without radical innovation. I can't say that the UltiNote excels in any particular area, but what's good about it is that there isn't any huge drawback either. Overall, it's a great choice if you want a good, manageable portable for serious road use but don't want the added expense of a famous brand.
