GiGTEK Producer T4000

Verdict

A portable music PC that's upgradeable, built to last and offers amazing specifications, albeit a very expensive piece of kit.

With its large hard disk, fast processor and 256Mb of RAM, the T4000 will be equally suited as a portable video-editing station or multimedia producer. To move it around, there's also a wheeled carry case with 1in foam lining for protection, and retailing at £299 this isn't a modest inclusion either. Add this to the chassis and at £4,795 the T4000 isn't cheap. However, while the initial cost of the chassis is expensive, you can replace the motherboard and components as and when you need to, which can't be done with a portable notebook.

While the T4000 is expensive, it's unique in its purpose - performing admirably. It's the first attempt we've seen at a practical, road-bound computer, and if you've got the money, it offers a professional spec and singular portability.
