Dell Inspiron 4000

Verdict

An excellent-value notebook that doesn't shirk on performance, design or features.

Review Date: 1 Sep 2000

Price when reviewed: (£1,996 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
5 stars out of 6

Comparing features with the Inspiron 5000e G750VT puts the price tag of £1,699 for the 750MHz version of the 4000 in a fair light. When compared with similarly-priced notebooks such as AJP's 3300CDF and the Evesham Voyager 7020 (see Labs, p106) you can't fail to be impressed at what Dell packs in, including a one-year collect-and-return warranty averaging six days turnaround. There's little to fault the Inspiron 4000, but although it receives a recommendation it can't displace the currently A-Listed Inspiron 5000e.
