Symantec Norton Internet Security 2007 review

Verdict

A truly silent firewall, reduced system impact and an improved interface, but it's far too expensive

One potential issue is that the Norton suite is currently tricky to fully uninstall. The Control Panel "Add or Remove" window requires three separate installations to be removed if you have the add-on pack, but Symantec offers no guidance about the correct sequence.

But where it really goes wrong is pricing. The £43 is for a single-user licence. To get the same three-user protection that F-Secure offers for £34, Symantec is charging £60. Combined with the poor parental controls and average spam filtering, it's enough to prevent us from recommending Norton. The superb firewall is a breath of fresh air, though, and existing Norton 2006 users should at least avail themselves of the free upgrade. Better still, make the change to F-Secure, which outperforms Norton in every other way.
