Power consumption
Phantombudgie - we've added the information about power consumption to the review. With regards to noise levels, we don't have the facilities available to test cards down to the last decibel, but we didn't notice the HSF as particularly loud during our testing. We'd still recommend waiting for a passive card if you need silence, though.

I don't know anybody that runs a 1600 x 1200 screen. That was a standard for 20" CRT monitors mainly, most lcd flat panel monitors would run 1680 x 1080 or full HD. Since the frame rate for a 1600 x 1200 monitor is just unplayable, I can't help wondering if this would just make the grade with a 1680 x 1080 screen?

Don't waste your cash on ATI for HTPC \ Media Centre
I'm sure its a great card, and wouod be wonderful in a suitable machine. Unfortunately if that machine is to be used for watching BBC HD FORGET IT!
NO ATI card (or embedded chipset) can currently display live BBC HD owing to a strange Hardware \ OS \ Firmware \ Driver problem.
PC Pro has covered this in the past and there's a big thread here:
