Verdict
Some thoughtful design touches, but a cheap feel and a high price put paid to the BeBook's chances.

Overall Rating

This intelligent design is somewhat undermined by sluggish performance, however, which insists on an infuriating one second pause between clicking a button and anything actually happening. Given that this pause is usually followed by a two second screen transition, in which the screen flashes to black before displaying the next page, it's best not to use the BeBook if you're the sort of person who goes into a rage at a red light.
The BeBook isn't a bad device, then. It even has the competition beaten in some regards, but its cheap look and feel, slow performance and, most critically, a price that's £30 more than the the sleek Sony, means we can't recommend it.
