ATMT may not be one of the major players in the burgeoning market for digital photo frames, but it has a full range of products, and this diminutive 5.5in model is the smallest it sells.

The frame, like Kodak's offerings, is plain black, but it looks and feels of a much higher quality. The surround doesn't dwarf the picture, and a subtle curve adds interest, as do the bevelled corners and glossy surface.

The display, alas, is unspectacular and doesn't match the build and design for quality. Images appear pale and lack colour clarity and warmth. The slideshow transitions are mediocre at best, and the 320 x 234 resolution doesn't do images any favours.

The card reader is also slightly lacking when compared with those of its competitors - it lacks xD - but it accepts several types of common memory: MS, SD, MMC and CF are all represented.

Unusually, the Clearview is equipped with a headphone socket, which is complemented by a bundled pair of earphones. They're nothing special, though, and we aren't really sure why they've been included. We can't see anyone using this frame's MP3 capabilities for anything other than ambient music.

The remote control is a useful addition to the package, and the strong, simple stand enables the ATMT Clearview to be used in both landscape and portrait positions. But these positives are outweighed by middling features and the poor display, which put paid to the Clearview's chances this month. This is one to avoid unless you're on a very tight budget.
