Those looking for a system with unrivalled power - and who don't mind buying peripherals separately - would do better to look elsewhere on the A List, where the Yoyotech boasts water-cooling and the Chillblast Fusion Stinger a Core i7 processor. Be aware, though, that your package could top £1,000 when the price of peripherals is factored in.

If you're not looking for pure power, though, and don't mind stowing the poor chassis underneath a desk then the PC Specialist is undeniably attractive: a decent processor, powerful GPU and plenty of storage alongside a Blu-ray drive and impressive 1080p screen. Thanks to its keen balancing of power and entertainment, it's well worth considering as a good all-rounder.
