So power and practicality go hand in hand with HP Compaq's latest desktop, but the only stumbling block is its price. If the dc7900's sheer power just isn't required, then the more modest capabilities of its AMD-powered stablemate, the dc5850, might be a more economic fit for today's limited IT budgets. But, if that power appeals, and you desire upgradeability and peace of mind all in one sensibly sized package, the dc7900 has plenty to recommend it.
