Novatech Solo Pro

Verdict

Impressive power, frugality and build quality, but it's uncomfortably wedged between lifestyle PCs and business machines.

Review Date: 28 Aug 2008

Price when reviewed: (£798 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
3 stars out of 6

Another concern is the price. While it's cheaper than the average lifestyle PC - the Dell XPS One costs £850, and the Sony VAIO is pricier at over a grand - it's still far more expensive than the best business boxes around, such as our current A List favourite, the Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo P5925 EPA (see p28).

For these reasons we can't really recommend this system. On the one hand, though it's cheap, slimline and reasonably well-designed, it doesn't have the right feature set to compete with the likes of Dell's XPS One. And on the other, it lacks the upgrade potential and accessibility that the business market requires. Neither fish nor fowl, the Novatech Solo Pro ultimately misses the mark.
