HP Compaq dc5850 in Desktop PCs

A solid and efficient PC - if you upgrade the warranty you're onto a winner.

The Fujitsu does offer slightly superior case design, including a switched monitor outlet for power saving, and while the HP can't match that, it actually bested the Fujitsu in our power tests. When idle it drew just 38W, 3W fewer than the Fujitsu, and when pushed hard it rose to a still-reasonable peak of 75W.

With a better specification in almost every way, the only stumbling block for the HP is the warranty - with just a year of on-site cover it falls down next to the three years of the Fujitsu. But with a three-year upgrade costing £61, you can still get the dc5850 for less than its rival, which pretty much guarantees it a spot on the A List.
