Moderately upgradable and practically compact. The P1700AP is just about fast enough and is bolstered by a three-year, on-site warranty.

Given the targeting, speed may be less fundamental than support when things go wrong. This being the case, I was glad to discover that Systemax offers a third-party three-year, on-site warranty with a next-business-day response time. Throw in the bundled copies of Windows XP Professional and Works Suite 2002, and the overall deal acquires a pleasing savour, which should prove sufficient to see off the competition.
