Compaq Evo D500

Verdict

A great-looking system that won't look out of place in a serious office. Combine this with reasonable performance, flexible upgrade options and a three-year on-site warranty and you've got a great business PC.

Review Date: 1 Nov 2001

Price when reviewed: (£933 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
4 stars out of 6

As with many business machines, the Evo looks uncompetitive compared to a standard PC like the Systemax A1500JP (see p152), but the level of support offered by Compaq, along with the great design and styling, make the Evo D500 a serious proposition for corporates. The performance is easily adequate, it comes with just about everything you need and it has a flexible upgrade path. The asking price of £794 doesn't seem so bad when you factor in the 1.7GHz Pentium 4 processor and the three-year on-site warranty, making the Compaq Evo D500 a good-value and stylish PC.
