Buffalo MiniStation DataVault

Verdict

Review Date: 17 Sep 2008

Price when reviewed: (£80 inc VAT)

Overall Rating
4 stars out of 6

With the seemingly endless stream of data-loss scandals appearing in the media, sales of encrypted storage products should be shooting through the roof as companies aim to tighten up on data security.

With such customers in mind, Buffalo takes care of everything in one simple 160GB package here, including software to automatically encrypt everything on the way in to the disk, and decrypt it on the way out.

The increased security to your data is great in theory, but this approach comes with a significant risk in itself: lose the hard disk and your data remains safe, but lose the password and the whole lot will be lost forever.

For companies looking for a quick and easy way to protect confidential files, however, this is a cheap and easy way to do it.
