As the appliance represents a single point of failure, the data on the servers must also be secured to removable media. To do this, you connect a tape drive to one of your hosts and use the Data Protector software to run regular backups. Usefully, each server can join a single backup domain, so you can run a single job for all of them.

The DBS is a smart backup appliance that shows off all the benefits of iSCSI. Compared with other solutions on the market, it's good value, and HP's installation and automation processes make it easy to use.
