We found the Sphere one of the most fascinating peripherals to have landed in the office for a long time. You see, the Sphere tracks you to keep your face in view. The lens tilts and swivels on motorised bearings, and once you're in view it does a remarkably good job of keeping you in frame if you don't move too fast. The only problem is that the motors move in sharp bursts and tend to overshoot. We also found it worked better under subdued or artificial light. The camera's resolution extends to 1,280 x 960 for still shots; video streaming and recording is limited to 640 x 480 at best. Quality of video is pretty good for a webcam, but still images are as poor as ever. That's not really the point, though, and the QuickCam is a good choice for video conferencing. It's only a shame that the security and timelapse photography apps included with Logitech's lower-end webcams aren't on the CD. By Sponsored Links
