The most striking thing about the Tungsten is its speed. Apps launch virtually before you lift the stylus from the screen. Graffiti lovers will adore the faster recognition.
The high-resolution screen, is a league above the Palm m515. Even without the bright backlight on, it's visible in most conditions.
We were also struck by the Tungsten's build quality. Made entirely from metal, it's also very compact. The Graffiti area is covered in transit by a drop-down panel that holds the shortcut keys yet the mechanism feels incredibly rugged. This reduces the Tungsten's height to 101mm, but it's thicker and heavier than the m515, so loses out on portability. Battery life was just as good as we've come to expect from a Palm device.
The Palm includes only 16MB of RAM rather than 32MB. Naturally, there's an SD slot for expansion, and with better sound quality and an earphone jack you may find the need to fill the memory with space-consuming multimedia files. The inclusion of Palm OS 5 adds to its audio appeal.
