If you're going to buy an overpowered supply, we'd be more inclined to go the whole hog and splash out on the remarkable FSP Everest 1010. As the name suggests, this mighty unit can pump out just over a kilowatt across four 20A +12V rails (plus 3.3V and +5V rails rated at a powerful 30A), and at loads of less than 50% it's more than 86% efficient. At full load, its efficiency falls to 80.6%, and its fan becomes intrusively loud, but no current PC could ever drive it this hard. But
