If you want to make the most of Vista's desktop Sidebar and gadgets, you'll need to go beyond those that come preinstalled with the OS. The Windows Live Gadget Gallery (http://gallery.live.com) is the place to go, with thousands of free downloads to wade through. This month, though, we've done the job for you. For those desperate for news from Auntie, we came across the Atom/RSS News Reader (AKA Feed Reader 3), which supplies any RSS feed you choose. You can add as many as you like, and there's Atom support for those who need it. The headline display is a little too small for our liking, but click on it and a flyout reveals the full headline text and whatever body copy the feed publisher has made available, as well as the full link and date. The BBC doesn't push out much more than the headline itself, which is a shame, but this gadget nevertheless shines for anything from the latest technology news to your favourite blog.
