Sandberg has taken function over form to the extreme - the Hard Disk Link does the same job as an external hard disk enclosure without installing a hard disk in a case each time you want to access it. One end of the cable has two USB ports, both of which need to be attached to the PC, and the other has 2.5in IDE, 3.5in IDE and SATA adapters. A power adapter is included, as is a short SATA cable. It's a convenient, if expensive, way of quickly seeing what's on a drive. Transfer speeds were impressive: with a SATA disk, we saw a maximum write speed of 21MB/sec, with almost identical performance when reading the same files back.
