We like the StarCam for various reasons - the sleek design and space-age blue lighting for starters. The clever magnetised mount is useful, and the stand allows you to mount the camera either on your desk or on top of your monitor's bezel. It's also well put-together. But, on the downside, the 1.3-megapixel sensor translates to 1,280 x 1,024 stills but only 640 x 480 video. And, despite the 30fps capture, we were disappointed by the quality of our videos - this isn't the webcam you'd use if videoconferencing was part of your day-to-day work, with colours more than a little washed out. But the microphone is sensitive enough for you to sit at a normal distance from your PC, and the price is keen enough to tempt occasional video-chatters.
