Office software
XPlay 2.3.4  [PC Pro]
COMPANY: XPlay PRICE: $30  (£15 approx)
RATING: ISSUE: 157  DATE: Nov 07

Verdict: Apple's legendary music player can make an uneasy PC companion - but there are some tools to make life easier.

If you have an iPod, chances are you've also installed iTunes and watched as it's collided with your music collection. But it doesn't have to be that way - no matter what Apple may have you believe, the two aren't joined at the hip.

XPlay has a trial version - but will cost you three times as much. For your money, you'll get a more flexible product, offering backup and cross-platform data transfer. You can move your music around without having to open up iTunes: just drag and drop or copy and paste into the XPlay music folder and the tracks are automatically organised on your iPod. Inside the XPlay music folder, everything is arranged as seen on the iPod screen.
