These peripherals are aimed squarely at Vista, with the Start "orb" and Media Center buttons signifying a mix of work and entertainment features. Unlike the top-the-range 8000 series, there's no backlight or USB hub, but the keyboard and mouse are Bluetooth. The latter is rechargeable, features seven buttons and a five-way scroll wheel, plus a Mac OS X-like Exposé function. The keyboard is designed for desk or lap use and works well once you're used to the soft-touch function keys. It also has an excellent directional pad/trackpad combo. It's overkill for most, but if you want an eye-catching and flexible desk set it's a good (if pricey) choice. By Ross Burridge
