It's been a while since we looked at the essential apps that integrate into the Firefox browser client. So long, in fact, that a new version of the browser has been released which broke some of the older and no longer actively supported add-ons. The extension reviewed here is one of the ones that we simply couldn't live without.

Simple ideas that add real-world features and are well executed - exactly what we want from a browser extension, and PDF Download ticks all those boxes. While many documents are made available as PDFs these days, you often don't get any warning that you're about to open a huge browser-slowing file. Once installed, though, this add-in checks for a PDF and if one is found a dialog box appears asking if you want to view it within the browser as either PDF or in HTML format, view it outside the browser with your PDF reader app, or download and save it to view later. You'll be amazed at the difference this makes to your overall browsing experience.
