It's been a while since we looked at the essential apps that integrate into the Firefox browser client. So long, in fact, that a new version of the browser has been released which broke some of the older and no longer actively supported add-ons. The extension reviewed here is one of the ones that we simply couldn't live without.
You'll need to tick the Override maxVersion checkbox when the Copy Plain Text installer pops up, otherwise it will say it isn't FF2 friendly. After that, though, it works perfectly and does a remarkably simple thing: it ensures that anything you copy from a web page is done so as plain text - absolutely essential when copying and pasting into Word, for example. It's so good that we have it configured to hijack the copy command and make it the default action.
