Tome Raider is a reference viewer available for Windows, Pocket PC, Palm OS and - in beta - Symbian S60. Although the viewer costs $38, the content (over 2,000 suitable books are available from www.memoware.com) is free and includes useful databases such as Wikipedia and the Internet Movie Database. As long as you have a large-capacity memory card (Wikipedia is slightly over 1GB), it means you can carry a mind-boggling amount of data around with you. There are no images, but the full text is there. And unlike other eBook viewers, Tome Raider adopts a more database-like approach, letting you quickly search for specific articles. It's a powerful and great-value application. By Jim Martin |
