Davey Winder discovers the meaning of the Web, life and everything, including the broadband bandwidth blues
On the plus side, I do like its ability to grant each application a specified bandwidth that can then be taken away from other applications if needed.
In the end, I decided to leave both applications running, and they survived quite happily together without any sign of instability or sucking up of resources. NetMeter is best for simple bandwidth monitoring and alerting, while NetLimiter cuts the mustard for bandwidth shaping and per-application bandwidth filtering. If you know of a workable alternative that combines both these features at a consumer level, you know where to find me. Just don't phone, okay?
