Security by numbers

Posted on 16 Jun 2008 at 11:06

This month, Davey Winder sets the security standard, reveals how humans can be hacked and doesn't get caught on video naked...

And finally...

According to the latest research from Kaspersky Labs, the number of new and malicious applications in circulation will increase by some 20 million by the end of the year. This represents a ten-fold rise compared to the figures for 2007, eclipsing the four-fold rise from 2006. If that wasn't bad enough, Kaspersky senior technology consultant David Emm says that the quality, as well as the quantity, is improving with complex samples such as the Storm Worm demonstrating "a wide range of hostile behaviour and distribution methods".
