Meet ISO 29500

Posted on 6 May 2008 at 14:58

Simon Jones picks through the bones as the OOXML saga finally draws to a close, and looks forward at forthcoming versions of OpenOffice.

OpenOffice 3 isn't expected to become available until September 2008 at the earliest. Developer Snapshot beta builds are already available, but they're nowhere near stable enough for everyday work. Mozilla Thunderbird is available already, and the Lightning extension for calendars and tasks is now a version 0.8 release candidate, so you could try those components now without having to wait for OpenOffice to incorporate them into its release package.
