OS X flaw could lead to DoS attack 12:16PM, Friday 10th November 2006
Secunia has reported a low-risk vulnerability in Mac OS X, which could be exploited to cause a denial of service (DoS).

The vulnerability exists due to an error in the "fpathconf()" syscall when it is called with an unsupported file type and can be exploited to cause a system panic. It has been confirmed in OS X 10.4.8 although other versions may also be affected.

Until Apple releases a fix, Secunia advises that administrators only grant trusted users access to affected systems.

The flaw was originally discovered in FreeBSD Unix, a component of OS X. For more information see secunia.com/advisories/22808.
