Microsoft releases iPod ejecting fix for Vista 10:34AM, Thursday 29th March 2007
Microsoft has released a patch for Windows Vista that fixes a problem with ejecting iPods.

Previously, ejecting the portable music player using Windows Vista's Safely Remove Hardware procedure could cause the data on the device to be corrupted. The problem could also occur when ejecting via Windows Explorer.

The patch is available for both x86 and 64-bit versions of Vista from support.microsoft.com/kb/933824/en-us.

Apple's most recent iTunes update addressed several other issues with using iPods in Vista, including problems with iTunes Store DRM compatibility, calendar syncing and software restore. At the time Apple said it was working with Microsoft to fix outstanding issues, including the problem fixed by today's patch.
