Microsoft has announced that in future it intends to give three days notice of its security alerts in order the IT managers can prepare to apply the patches. Currently, security bulletins are scheduled to be released on the second Tuesday of each month. The company says that it is making the move in response to customer requests
So as not to tip of the hackers who are avid readers of the security bulletins, the company says it will only be providing general information on the products affected, how many and the level of severity rather than go into the details of the vulnerability itself.
The Microsoft site is already showing an initial advanced security notice.
