You can compress (multiple times), but you cannot hide. This is the message from Kaspersky for its anti-virus protection for home computers.

The well-respected Russian security specialist has updated its AV offering, Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro, and features new to version 5.0 include the detection of malicious code that has been compressed multiple times. There is also improved automatic scanning of inward and outward bound email, and protection against 'riskware', i.e. programs which are not technically viruses but which may have malicious intent.

In total, Anti-Virus Personal Pro 5.0 scans 900 archived and compressed file formats for viruses, and can disinfect archive files in ZIP, CAB, RAR and ARJ formats.

Kaspersky's Personal Pro antivirus differs from its Personal edition by being aimed at more experienced users. For example, additional options include a configurable task list, updating of antivirus databases on launch and backing up copies of objects being saved before they are disinfected or deleted.
