Mozilla has updated Firefox with new crash protection against third-party software like Adobe's Flash.
Firefox 3.6.4 brings with it seven patches, five of which are rated critical, as well as the crash protection, which isolates third-party plugins when they fail so the browser keeps running.
"Results from our beta testing show Firefox 3.6.4 will significantly reduce the number of Firefox crashes experienced by users who are watching online videos or playing games," said lead developer Mike Beltzner in a post on the Mozilla blog. "When a plugin crashes or freezes while using Firefox, users can enjoy uninterrupted browsing by simply refreshing the page."
It will also alert users when their plugins are out of date. So far, the new system only protects users running Windows or Linux, and only for Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime and Microsoft Silverlight.
"Support for other plugins and operating systems will become available in a future Firefox release," Beltzer added.

This is total B.S. Adobe Flash is crashing constantly, I hit the refresh button & it crashes even before it sets up. I'm trying to watch episodes on Hulu. The only time Adobe Flash works is when Firefox is closed then re-opened and the plugin container takes a super amount of physical space. I don't know yet if this is a problem on anything else at the moment.

I found the same problem with Java but 'Firefox Help' recommends downloading the new version. Perhaps it will be the same with Flash.

@Palindrome
It won't stop Flash crashing on a page, it will stop Flash taking your whole browser session with it!
