As well as an entry-level colour laser printer and a multi-function device built around the same printing engine, there are the mono WorkCentre 4150 and 3119 MFPs.
We are aiming for price conscious buyers,' said Darren Cassidy, General Manager for Xerox UK Office Business, 'bringing us into the range of customers who think Xerox is too expensive for them.'
With the business office market valued at around $112bn, of which $41bn is accounted for by SMBs, Xerox is keen to capitalise on its recent reorganisation of its distribution channels to break into new ground for the company, taking it into direct competition with the likes of Dell and Epson.
Leading the way is the Xerox Phaser 6110, a colour laser that will be available next week for an RRP of £189, although Xerox expects to see it for around £155 on the High Street. Producing 16ppm (black and white) and 4ppm (colour) at a 2400 x 600 dpi printing resolution, the device has 32MB of memory, runs on a 300MHz processor and has USB 2.0 and Ethernet connectivity.
Building on this is the Phaser 6110 colour MFP, which adds scanning and copying functionality. Scheduled for October availability, the price has not been confirmed, but will be in the region of £450, we were told.
Also on the way are the mono WorkCentre 4150 (43ppm), described as Xerox's fastest desktop multifunction system, and the entry-level mono 3119 MFP (18ppm). The former is priced at £1,656 and the latter from £141, with both being available immediately from Xerox resellers.
An 'Optimizer' version of the WorkCentre 4150 will also be released shortly. This will feature integration with the Sage accounting suite, which is aimed squarely at the SMB market. The standalone box, which is additional to the 4150, will process the likes of orders, invoices, delivery notes, etc, that pass through the Sage system and the 4150.
