VirginDigital.com opens doors on Friday 2:05PM, Wednesday 31st August 2005
Virgin Digital is the latest entrant to the seriously crowded UK music downloads market.

The company's Digital.com store will begin selling WMAs to Windows users from Friday (2 September), having launched in this guise in the US a year ago.

The service's back-end is provided by MusicNet which is also behind the soon-to-be-relaunched HMV downloads store.

Potential Virgin downloaders can sign up for news about the launch at virgindigital.com/index_selector.html.

The new store takes over from the UK's existing Virgin.Net service and ties in closely with the company's MegaStore chain.

High-street stores will be fitted out with a dedicated Digital section, where MP3 players will be on sale, along with tunes available for download.
