iPod music event triggers new launch rumours
12:24PM, Tuesday 30th August 2005
Apple has despatched invitations for another music-related special event to be held on 7 September in San Francisco.
Referring to the launch of the first iPod four years ago the invitation reads: '1,000 songs in your pocket changed everything. Here we go again.'
Among the possible announcements, the favourites are the long-awaited iTunes-compatible phone from Motorola and a video playing iPod.
The possibility that the iTunes phone may finally be unveiled has been increased by a Wall Street Journal report that a carrier, Cingular, has at last been found. Carriers were said to be reluctant to support the phone as they are keen top grab their own share of the burgeoning music downloads market.
