8GB iPhone disappears from shelves
1:02PM, Friday 25th April 2008
O2 and Carphone Warehouse are reporting they've sold out of 8GB iPhones, suggesting the recent price cuts may have done the trick.
Notes on the O2 and Carphone Warehouse websites report the iPhone as being "out of stock" and "no longer available", respectively. The companies slashed the price of the 8GB iPhone by £100 last week, with speculation suggesting they were attempting to shift stock in preparation for the widely-anticpated 3G iPhone, expected to make an appearance in June.
Neither company would confirm whether it had plans to restock the iPhone, or how many numbers had been sold in the last week, with Carphone Warehouse saying only that it was "reviewing the stock situation."
However, anybody still keen on the 8GB iPhone can purchase one direct from the Apple store for the full price.
