Apple sells a million iPhones 10:16AM, Tuesday 11th September 2007
Apple claims it has sold its one-millionth iPhone, just days after cutting the price of its smartphone by $200.

The device, launched to much fanfare 74 days ago, is currently only on sale in the US, but will be launched in the UK later this year. Apple has said it will sell 10 million by the end of 2008.

Apple, which said last week it was on track to sell 1 million iPhones by the end of September, saw its shares rise by nearly 3% on the back of the news. Apple stock had fallen last week when the company said it was cutting the price of the phone, which investors took as a sign of weaker-than-expected demand.

Last week, Apple unveiled the iPod touch, bringing the iPhone's design to its iPod range.
