BenQ has extended its range of digital projectors, looking to cover all the segments of the data presentation and video display markets.

New models include the entry-level home digital projector, the PE5120 (pictured), aimed at those new to the home-cinema experience who don't want an expensive large-screen plasma as a permanent feature of their living room.

With a noise level of 29dB (operating in eco-mode), it has a brightness of 1100 ANSI lumens, a WVGA native resolution (854 x 480), and has a 2000:1 contrast ratio. With dimensions (WxHxD) of 262 x 99 x 216 mm, it weighs 2.9kg.

Video compatibility comprises: NTSC, PAL, SECAM, EDTV and HDTV. And input sources include: S-Video (Mini DIN 4 pin x 1) and Component Video (RCA jack x 3) on the A/V side, and there is also DVI-I support. The 200W lamp has a reported life of 2,000 hours (3,000 in eco mode).

Shipping this month, the PE5120 has an RRP of 800 for the UK market.

BenQ has also announced three new projectors - the PB7110, PB7210 and PB7230 - that feature a five segment colour wheel, which is designed to improve colour saturation and representation. Adding yellow into the traditional mix of red, blue, green and white - the models provide ANSI lumens of 1,800, 2,200 and 2,500 respectively.

For the high-end of the data presentation market, the PB8250 is a DLP (digital light processing) display with an XGA native resolution (1,024 x 768), a brightness of 3,000 ANSI lumens and a 2000:1 contrast ratio.
