Fujitsu has bundled the SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 with its PRIMERGY server products.

The Linux option is available across the range of servers, which use Intel Xeon processors in numbers from one to 16. Fujitsu says its choice of SuSE was 'in response to strong demand by customers and partners in the EMEA region' (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

'The package we've put together with SuSE is especially attractive to our sales partners,' said Bernd Bischoff, executive VP, Sales, Marketing and Customer Service at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. 'They can now offer their customers complete solutions based on PRIMERGY servers and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 with relatively little overhead.'

'We believe the simplicity of this package will cause a considerable increase in demand,' said Petra Heinrich, VP Partner Sales & Services at SuSE. 'Corporate customers can utilise the technical strengths of Linux - while at the same time reducing the complexity and costs of their IT with an easy-to-maintain platform.'

Servers running SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 can be configured for a range of purposes, such as file, print, Web and security servers. It is also certified for central corporate applications such as mySAP.com and Oracle databases.
