Lexmark touts for business with printer launches

Lexmark has announced a raft of new printers aimed at businesses.

Perhaps the most significant of the announcements is the T family of workgroup printers.

The T630, T632 and T634 are modular devices, in that they can be upgraded to multifunction printers with copy, scan and fax capabilities.

They also offer management software for Linux/Unix platforms (in addition to Windows), recognising the inroads these operating systems are making into the business world.

Security enhancements mean that print jobs can be encrypted 'end-to-end', and Lexmark provides software to use this capability on Windows 2000, XP, Linux and Unix platforms.

The T630, T632 and T634 cost £599, £769 and £1099 respectively (exclusive of VAT).

Lexmark has introduced a multifunction printer range as well. The X630, X632 and X632e are network printers with faster scan and output speeds than their predecessors and improved reliability, claims the company.

They are also compatible with Lexmark's document management software: Document Distributor and Document Solutions Suite. They are priced at £1619, £2359 and £3649 respectively (ex VAT).

Lexmark has also announced a colour laser, the C912, for £2,979 in its basic configurations. Further configurations with added memory and other functions are available. The USP for this range is the use of inline technology that transfers all four ink colours simultaneously, making colour printing as quick as mono.
