Crucial targets server systems

Crucial has created a section on its Web site dedicated to help systems administrators find the correct memory upgrades for their server systems.

Stefanie Summerfield, Crucial's European General Manager, said: 'The Server Solutions Centre is designed so our business customers can make informed purchases. It makes finding and ordering the right server memory easy and hassle-free.'

The Server Solutions Centre offers server specific products, buying information, pricing and offers, along with a server-only version of Crucial's Memory Selector - a searchable database listing which types of memory are compatible with which servers.

A Crucial spokesperson told us: 'Because it's so important that server memory functions properly, computer manufacturers install only top-tier memory in the servers. One of the companies they often turn to is Micron, our parent company, so when you buy from Crucial, you're buying direct from a memory manufacturer.'

Memory is guaranteed and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. The Server Solutions Centre can be found on the Crucial Web site.

Crucial is hoping to weigh in on a global market that IDC research from last August reckons will be reaching shipments of around 1.5bn for Q4 of this year. In Q2 of 2002, HP led the market, grabbing the lion's share with $1.6bn.
