Twitter and LinkedIn have signed a partnership that will allow their users to share status updates across the services.
The deal means LinkedIn's status updates - which are restricted to the same 140 characters as Twitter - can be posted to the microblogging site with an optional checkbox. Anybody looking to share their ramblings on Twitter with their LinkedIn contacts can do so by using the hash tag #li or #in.
The companies are also releasing an app called Tweets that will let users add their Twitter streams on their LinkedIn profiles.
"The business use case of Twitter is turning out to be very important, and more and more people are finding that the persona they create for themselves on the web is part of their resume in many ways," says Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.
The companies have begun rolling out the feature, and have warned it may take a few days to hit all accounts.
It seems everybody wants to be best friends with Twitter just recently. Microsoft and Google have signed deals with the service to show tweets as part of their search results.
